Ultra-wideband and Polarization-insensitive RCS Reduction Digital Metasurface Design

  In this paper,a new AMC checkerboard structure is proposed to reduce radar cross section(RCS).Based on hybrid array pattern synthesis(APS)and particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm,the metasurface is optimized to obtain the diffusion scattering patterns.Compared to the equal-sized PEC surface,it can achieve more than 10 dB RCS reduction in an ultra-wide frequency from 8.16 to 18.6 GHz with 78%bandwidth for normal x-and y-polarized incidence waves.The theoretical analysis and simulation results are in a good agreement and verify the metasurface can achieve ultra-wideband and polarization-insensitive specular reflection reduction.
