Design of Ka-band High Integrated Array Antenna with Wide Beam Width for Security Inspection
A broadband high integrated array antenna with wide beam width is proposed to realize the 3-dimensional imaging in the Ka-band active imaging system for security inspection. On the basis of the antenna element which is distinctively designed as a union of the open-ended waveguide and the microstrip feeding network, excellent radiating performance combined with compact structure would come true in comparison with traditional design scheme of the antenna element for security inspection. When aimed at high resolution and fast scanning speed, the array antenna adopts the high integrated arrangement scheme and takes full advantage of the polarization theory just as presented in this paper.Simulation results demonstrate that the array antenna possesses low VSWR of less than 1.5 and radiating gain of more than 6dB when the whole bandwidth of 26.5~31.5GHz is covered. And the cross polarization level of the receiving element and the axial ratio(AR)of the transmitting element can achieve as low as-20dB and 3dB respectively in the whole half-power beam width(HPBW)in excess of 60 degrees, which approves its practicality in imaging area for security inspection.
