Low Profile SIW Cavity-Backed Magneto-Electric Dipole with Wide Beamwidth Radiation Patterns
Based on the complementary antenna concept of combining an electric dipole with a magnetic dipole,a linearly polarized substrate integrated waveguide(SIW)cavity-backed magneto-electric(ME)dipole antenna has been proposed.This antenna has wide beamwidth radiation patterns.The halfpower beamwidths(HPBW)are 175° in E-plane and 130° in Hplane.Besides,the proposed antenna has a low profile of about 0.03λ0(λ0 is the space wavelength at center operating frequency)with good radiation performances across the impedance bandwidth including a stable gain,symmetrically unidirectional radiation patterns in both of the two principal planes and especially,a significantly low cross polarization.The antenna is designed,fabricated and measured.Measured results show a good agreement with the simulated ones.
