Dual Frequency Fabry-Perot Antenna Based on Metamaterial Lens

A Fabry-Perot resonator antenna(FPRA)fed by air-coupled patch antenna with metamaterial lens is presented in this paper. The Fabry-Perot resonator consists of a partially reflective surface(PRS)formed by one metamaterial substrate, one layer of frequency selective surface(FSS)and metal ground plane. That two layers of substrate stuck together as lens above the feed antenna is to construct dual frequency working and to enhance the directive performance. The influence of a left-handed metamaterial(LHM)substrate attached to the FSS is illustrated. From the results obtained,it is noted that in the presence of the LHM substrate, the Fabry-Perot resonator antenna is able to work with dual frequency, has an electrically small effect and a radiation enhancement at 12.8GHz and 13.2GHz.
