Synthesis of copper nanoparticles using copper hydroxide
Copper nanoparticles at good stability and highly dispersity were successfully prepared using copper hydroxide as a main salt and ascorbic acid as a reducing agent with PVP protective additives in liquid phase redox system. The produced copper nanoparticles were examined to be pure metallic without any impurities at a good spherical shape in the size range of 40-120nm,and suitable for the applications in IC packaging interconnect. It was found that the reaction temperature, amount of protective additives and molar ratio of copper hydroxide to ascorbic acid do have obvious influence in particles size and composition. In the paper, different amount of PVP were evaluated to check the storage stability of copper nanoparticle powders.
