Comparative Study on American and Chinese Diplomatic Discourses of Reports from the Pragma-Dialectical View
Diplomatic discourse can be seen as a kind of argumentation in nature.By analyzing and comparing two different diplomatic reports from the pragma-dialectical view,we find that while pursuing the effectiveness of the argumentation,both reports tend to violate some rules of the code of conduct,committing different fallacies at the cost of loss in reasonableness.The differences in the violation of rules may result from different cultural contexts and institutional preconditions.
