An Analysis of Grammatical Metaphor in Online Encyclopedia Texts on Marine Biology Theme

　　This study aims to explore the pattern of grammatical metaphors in online popular scientific texts,based on the corpus of texts on marine biology selected from Wikipedia.In this specific corpus,it finds out that“process→ quality/entityas the most dominant sub-type of ideational metaphor.It also reveals that adjectivization and nominalization are the most significant forms of conversion of part of speech,and that adjectivization is more significant than nominalization.It concludes that grammatical metaphors functions to increase brevity,formality and objectivity in these texts.
