Research on Product Redesign Process Based on Functional Analysis
As a commonly used approach for enterprises to innovate, product redesign largely depends on the functional analysis.Traditional ways of functional analysis facilitate the identification of product design problems. However,it may hinder the opportunity of innovation since too much detailed information of problem has been revealed by the existing functional analysis methods. In order to expand the solution space for improving innovation chance, this paper proposes a new functional backtrack analysis method by comprehensively using the principles from both relational function model and hierarchical function model that are important approaches in the study field. The proposed method begins with the construction of a relational function model that originates from reverse fishbone and the relationships between functions. Then, the relational functional model is divided into various levels in accordance with the basic idea of functional hierarchy. And the creative ideas of redesign solution are obtained by using TRIZ tools to solve inventive problems on different levels. Finally, the feasibility and effect of the proposed method is verified with a specific redesign of branching machinery as an illustrative example.
