A Novel Tooth Contact Analysis Method Based on Value Iteration
A new calculation method of tooth contact ellipse was proposed based on value iteration.For the purpose of avoiding the quadratic approximation of the mating tooth surfaces near the reference point,and the complex curvature derivation in tooth contact analysis(TCA)of gear transmission.Firstly,the instant contact point of the two mating tooth surfaces is obtained by solving the basic meshing equations.Secondly,a series of cylindrical surfaces,with their axes parallel to the normal of the instant contact point,were made and cut by the two mating tooth surfaces.The extreme values of the intercepted generatrices correspond to the points on the long axis(the contact line)and the short axis of the contact ellipse,while the certain value of the amount of elastic deformation corresponds to the points on the boundary of the contact ellipse.The whole boundary of the contact ellipse and the contact line at a certain meshing position were then obtained,as well as the other meshing positions.Finally,a pair of face-hobbed hypoid gears was taken as an example to verify the feasibility of this method,and some concluding remarks regarding this research were provided.
