A Fast Tacho-Less Order Tracking Method for Gear Fault Diagnosis Under Large Rotational Speed Variation Conditions Based on Multi-stage Generalized Demodulation

The generalized demodulation based tacho-less order tracking is a promising gear fault diagnosis method due to its being applicable to large rotational speed variation condition(larger than ±30%)and its good robustness to noises. However, the current single-stage generalized demodulation based tacho-less order tacking is insufficient for precise order analysis.A multi-stage generalized demodulation based tacho-less OT method inspired by the idea of iterations is proposed against this issue in this study, where results can be improved based on the progressive iteration.Simulation and experiment case studies are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that the multi-stage generalized demodulation based tacho-less OT method rather than the single-stage one results in a more precise order analysis in whose order spectra higher order components(meshing frequency component and its harmonics)are clearer than that in those for the single-stage generalized demodulation based tacho-less order tacking. Moreover, our method is time saving due to its only being based on simple calculations such as coarse timefrequency transform,Fourier transform and Hilbert transform so that it shall have promising prospect in applications(such as field diagnosis)which have strict computation time requirements.
