Literary-Pragmatic Research on Shakespeares Tragedies - A Case Study of Macbeth
Macbeth is one of Shakespeares four greatest tragedies, and is distinguished from the other three because of the contradictory personality of the main character. As a new interdisciplinary subject, literary pragmatics is widely focused upon by scholars of literature and linguistics. It is a powerful tool for language analysis, and not only provides a new perspective for the study of literary works, but also has a strong explanatory power. Therefore, based on the relevant theories of literary pragmatics, this paper aims to make a new interpretation of the tragedy of Macbeth at both the micro and the macro level.
