Effect of Zr on the martensitic transformation and the shape memory effect in Ti-Zr-Nb-Ta high-temperature shape memory alloys

1 Introduction Studies on the Ti-Zr alloys indicated that the alloying of the Zr element could significantly adjust the martensitic temperature and improve the mechanical and shape memory behaviors of Ti-based SMAs.In the present work,quaternary Ti-xZr-10Nb-4Ta(x = 16,18,19 and 19.5 at. %) alloys have been designed using Zr as an alloying element to replace Ti.
