CIRCUITOUS FORMATION OF BARIUM TITANATE USING HYDROTHERMAL SYNTHESIS WITH LOW-CONCENTRATION PRECURSORS
Barium titanate nanoparticles were fabricated by using the hydrothermal method.Single-crystal nanowires were observed in the process of hydrothermal synthesis when the concentration of Ba and Ti precursors are low.Instead of the well-known in-situ transformation or dissolution-precipitation mechanismfor the BaTiO3 formation,we found that the anatase nanoparticles transform into nanowires at the beginning, and then recrystallized into barium titanate nanoparticles. The secondary mineral is one-dimension nanowires with average length more than 150μm and square-like cross sections. The average aspect ratio can exceed 1000.Without barium element in the hydrothermal system, the product will remain to be TiO2,producing little sodium titanate. These results demonstrate that the low concentration of Ba and TiO2 precursors will lead to a circuitous route to the formation of BaTiO3 nanoparticles.
