Frictionless contact problem of a piezoelectric half-plane with surface effect

1 Introduction In micrometer or nanometer scales,the classical theory of elasticity is incapable to capture the sizedependence of solids as there is no intrinsic length scale in the constitutive law.Especially,when the indenter size or indentation depth or materials shrinks to micro-/nano-scales,in addition to the size effect,the surface effect is likely to be important because of the increasing ratio of the surface-to-bulk volume of the nanomaterials 1.
