STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF STRUCTURAL NONLINEARITY ON THE PERFORMANCE OF MULTI-UNIT IMPACT DAMPER

In recent years,particle damping technology,with the advantages of robustness,has attracted much more attention in the field of vibration control in civil engineering.Due to its complex nonlinear behavior,e.g.collision and friction,an equivalent impact damper is usually used in the simulation 1.The impact damper is also called Single-Unit Impact Damper(SUID),and the impulsive force in the collision is great,with the attendant noise and potential local deformations.Besides,the tuning of the optimum gap clearance in a SUID is quite dependent on damper parameters.
