1 Introduction Metamaterials are artificially engineered structures with unconventional effective properties.They are composed of unit cells(also called meta-atoms 1),whose sizes are smaller than the wavelengths at interested frequency ranges.Typically,through a periodic arrangement(but not necessary 2) of these unit cells,band gaps can be created for sound and vibration mitigation 3.
