Living Organisms Coating towards Functionality Advancing
Creating an intelligent artificial cell wall to endow coated living organisms with more advanced functionalities is highly desirable.In this presentation,two approaches for the efficient cell surface engineering will be presented.By self-assembly of coacervate microdroplets on individual yeast cellular surface,a heritable artifical cellular wall can be created which then protects the encapsulated yeast cells against various external stresses and prolongs the storage of the fabricated cells over two months.Alternatively,via layer-by-layer self-assembly technique,we can create an enzyme-modulated oxygen consuming sandwich-like layer around the encapsulated C.
