Ferromagnetic microwires and their multifunctional composites
In the present talk,I will focus on the discussion of the latest progress in bringing functionalities to structural composites,specifically,the microwave tunable properties of polymer composites containing ferromagnetic micwrowires in the presence of stress field and magnetic field.The newly developed microwire composites have demonstrated stress sensing,microwave absorption capability as well as emerging metamaterial characteristics.The understanding of the influence of composite architecture such as material parameters of microwires and microwire periodicity,offers useful insights in developing multifunctional microwire composites for specific engineering applications such as stress sensing,structural health monitoring,microwave absorption and invisible cloaking(stealth).
