Computational Pharmaceutics-Application of Molecular Modeling to Drug Delivery

Today formulation development still strongly replies on the traditional trial-and-error approach by individual experiences of pharmaceutical scientists,which is laborious, time-consuming and cost-expensive.Computational pharmaceutics integrates molecular modeling techniques and experimental approaches to investigate the mechanisms of formulations at the molecular level for better medicines.Three examples were discussed:cyclodextrin-drug complexes, solid dispersion and siRNA delivery.These examples show that computational pharmaceutics has great potential to investigate the molecular mechanism of drug delivery systems.
