Development and characterization of the TFDM-SLNs for oral delivery

To improve the solubility and the bioavailability of total flavonoids from Dracocephalum moldavica L.(TFDM), TFDM loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) were prepared and optimized. The stability of TFDM-SLNs was investigated. The TFDM-SLNs were prepared by high shear homogenize followed ultrasonic technique. In the research, The shape, size and poly dispersity index (PDI), encapsulation efficiency (EE), drug loading (DL) zeta potential, stability and release characteristics of TFDM-SLNs were investigated. The optimized formulation of TFDM-SLNs was in spherical shape, similar in size with the mean particle diameter at (141.85 ± 0.24 nm), (PDI) (0.21 ± 0.97) and zeta potential of (-28.7± 1.94mV),respectively.The average EE were 99.77 ± 1.05%,98.40±1.21%, 98.07±0.87% and the DL was 8.61±1.27%.The method of high shear homogenize followed ultrasonic is suitable for TFDM-SLNs preparation. The optimal formulation of TFDM-SLNs is stability, and improved the solubility and bioavailability of TFDM, which is expected to be an safe and effective novel nano-drug delivery system.
