Influence of Drug Physicochemical Properties on Drug solubility and Release in Hydroxy Pressure Sensitive Adhesives

  The relationship between drug physicochemical properties and drug release behavior was conducted with liner regression in transdermal patch.In low drug loading (0.25%) drug release rate was linear related with polar surface area of drug, In the high drug loading (2%) drug release percentage was dependent on the drug polarizability value and log P.Combining the results of FT-IR and drug miscibility studies, it was confirmed that drug-PSA interactions was appeared in hydrogen bond and the interaction ability was limited by the hydroxyl functional groups quantity, which means that PSA functional groups can be saturated by models drug when the drug loading was high enough.
