Preparation and characterization of polymeric micelles for anticancer drug 20(S)-25-methoxyl-dammarane-3β, 12β, 20-triol

Nanoscale polymeric micelles have promising applications as drug delivery systems.In this work, to increase the water solubility,sustain the releasing rate and improve the tumor targeted delivery of 25-OCH3-PPD, we developed biodegradable poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (MPEG-PLGA) micelles entrapping 25-OCH3-PPD.The prepared 25-OCH3-PPD micelles have a mean particle size of 136.0 ± 2.30 nm, and release 25-OCH3-PPD in a controlled fashion.25-OCH3-PPD and 25-OCH3-PPD micelles inhibited A549 tumor cell growth in vitro.Polymeric micelles reported in this study may be promising for targeted 25-OCH3-PPD delivery.
