Digital Storytelling as Career Education through Online Collaboration
This paper reports a case study of digital storytelling as a career education for international students who intend to come to work in Japan.Through online collaboration with Japanese students, they create a few minutes of video to introduce themselves to Japanese companies. It is quite hard for international students to get a job in Japan since they are struggling to describe what they want to and can do in the Japanese context. Therefore, the authors conducted a pilot project using digital storytelling through online collaboration among international students and the Japanese students aiming(1)to provide experience of collaboration with Japanese students,in which they can develop intercultural awareness, especially focusing on Japanese culture and(2)to develop(reconstruct)their story based on that awareness. This research identifies evidence on the use,and impact of using digital storytelling as a career education for international students aiming to work in Japan. This paper shows an introduction part of the research as a mid-term report.
