Support of the Students with Learning Difficulties in a Philippines Poverty Area
Education is not widespread especially in poverty areas of the Philippines. In one area, only 60-70%students of the village can graduate from an elementary school.Insufficient Supports by public organizations make it hard for potential learning disordered students going to school. The goal of this study is to put an end to a vicious circle and to implement environment in which all students, including potential learning disordered students, can study in peace. As the first step of this,I support such students in a poor area of the country and aim to clarify effects and challenges of such practices by analyzing the process. As support activities,I mainly focus on two aspects: 1)improvement of the education, and 2)the support acquisition from a public organization. On educational aspect,I built a special support class within an elementary school ground and decided to give additional classes for potential learning disordered students. The students who had difficulties to learn so far in a usual class were able to learn better by getting support them individually in a special support class. We will report the results of our practice to the Department of Education, and pursue to obtain official support for such efforts. The department of Education generally give supports based on diagnostic results by a hospital; however,we pursue gaining supports by accumulating meaningful results.
