Implementation of Stealth Assessment to Career Interest Test for Elementary Student
The purpose of this study was to develop an augmented reality(AR)program ofcareer interest test for elementary students with the stealth assessment. It is crucial todiscover individual interest and achieve positive self-concept by providing systematic careereducation for young learners. For this reason, various career interest tests have been used for elementary students.Among them, the most commonly used career interest test method is asubjective survey form. However, the questionnaire requires a considerable level of readingskills and it may not befor the young to answer all ofthe questions. In order to solve these problems, this study applied a stealth assessment method to ARapplication which is to motivate childrens attention. To apply the stealth assessmenttechnique, the Evidence-Centered-Design Model was applied as a theoretical framework andthree models(i.e.Competency Model,Evidence Model,Action Model)were developed.A Competency Model was developed by adopting Hollands RIASEC model as a core competency. To develop the Evidence Model, the core characteristics of the RIASEC modelwere investigated in the literature review.Furthermore,a Stat Model was developed with thecorrelation coefficient matrix of RIASEC.The Action Model consisted ofAR environments, including gaming elements such as providing missions and rewarding users. The ARinterface was developed in this study with 12 AR markers. In addition, when users activateeach marker, audio narration was provided The development of this career interest test AR program has two implications.First, theproblems of the questionnaire career interest test tools were complemented by applyingstealth assessment and augmented reality interfaces. This takes into account the interests ofelementary students and allows to evaluate users performance in the optimal condition where they are fully occupied.Second, this research is meaningful because it introduces thedatabase function ofAR interface to realize stealth assessment that needs to collect learners performance data in real-time.
