Analysis on Korean Elementary Teachers Stage of Concerns about Maker Education
This study was aimed to examine Korean elementary teachers concerns in practicing Maker education based on Concerns-Based Adoption Model(CBAM).For this,a questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 180 elementary teachers.Percentile analysis,T-test and ANOVA were carried out.As a result,in general the Korean elementary teachers concern level was identified as a non-user pattern.The highest percentage of the respondents showed either Stage 0: Unconcerned to Maker education or Stage 1: Informational concerns showing limited awareness of Maker education.The analyses of differences by gender,years of teaching,educational level,and position in a school revealed that statistically significant differences depending on the years of teaching and position.Also,there were significant differences in concern levels depending on the degree of implementation of Maker education in their teaching practice.Based on the results,we will discuss implications for follow-up research in Maker education and teacher professional development for Maker education which can be customized by teacher characteristics such as years of teaching or their position in a school.
