Formation of sulfate melt and sulfate-rich fluid in the crust
Traditionally, sulfate salts are known for two characteristics.First, sulfate crystals in general has high melting points (884, 1069 and 1460 ℃ for Na2SO4, K2SO4 and CaSO4 crystals at ambient pressure, respectively), and they would not be significantly changed by the presence of water see Valyashko (2008) for the high temperature behaviors of the Na2SO4-H2O system.
