Roles of Natural Science Museums in the Achievement of 2030 Agenda under The Belt and Road Initiative

The Belt and Road Initiative and UNESCOs 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda) are different in their nature and scope, but both have sustainable development as the overarching objective. Thus, The Belt and Road Initiative has immense potential to be used as the implementation tool of the 2030 Agenda. The paper focuses on how the development of natural sciences museums, as science infrastructure, could contribute in the achievement of 2030 Agenda, especially in five priority areas of The Belt and Road Initiative including policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration and people-to-people linkage. The paper specifically discusses the four following issues: the potential role of natural sciences museums in promoting science, technology and innovation cooperation among The Belt and Road Initiative countries;how to create the interconnectivity among natural sciences museums in The Belt and Road Initiative countries;the potential of overseas development assistance in the development of natural sciences museums within the context of The Belt and Road Initiative;the role of natural sciences museums in strengthening cultural understanding between people.
