Legacy of Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor and engineer, who is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current electricity supply system. After the discovery of the resonance frequency of the planet Earth in 1899, the basis of his global wireless problem of the power project, Tesla saw a revolution in all spheres of human life which would be yielded by his and similar innovations of global character. After the rejection of the leading American financiers to further invest in his project, which seemed to be too ambitious and unrealizable, Tesla started to think more critically about the trends of contemporary development in the world. This was the time of the 1,920s and 1,930s when he spoke about the need to preserve energy resources, search for new, renewable and alternative energy sources, strive for a more modest development with less consumption, aspire a culture oriented to universal mankind values and true education. The value of Tesla as an authentic and early thinker of globalism is unknown to the broader public and even undiscovered and unrecognized among experts. The Nikola Museum, situated in Belgrade, Serbia, preserves complete Tesla heritage including a larger number of personal items used by Tesla during his life. These items are today divided among several of the Museums collections. The Museums greatest treasure, however, is Teslas personal archive whose documents, manuscripts, scientific notes, calculations, diagrams, drawings and letters make up a total of 163,911 call numbers. In 2003, in recognition of the universal significance of Nikola Tesla and his inventions, UNESCO added Teslas archive, as part of the moveable human documentary heritage, to the Memory of the World Register, the highest form of protection of cultural assets. The entire collection of the Museum has been digitalized and also microfilmed. This procedure secures the permanence of the material for future generations.
