Operation Characteristics of a Bubbling Fluidized Bed Heat Exchanger with Internal Solid Circulation for a 550MWe Ultra-supercritical CFB Boiler
The world largest CFBC (Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion) power generation plant, Samcheok plant,consisting of 4 units of 550MWe ultra-supercritical CFB boilers started operation since the end of 2016.Each boiler is designed with 8 INTREXs as final superheaters and final reheaters.The INTREX is an external heat exchanger with immersed tube operated in bubbling fluidized condition.Above the bed, there is an internal circulation opening between the furnace and the INTREX allowing particles with high temperature in the furnace to be transferred into the INTREX to raise the temperature of the INTREX bed.In this research, the operation characteristics of the INTREX is studied.Based on the operation data, the ash circulating rate is calculated for different operation condition.The results show the for lower boiler load, the furnace bed temperature and the circulating ash temperature in loop seal are lower, the total ash flow rate from the INTREX to the furnace is lower as well.Meanwhile, the ash internal circulation rate from the furnace to the INTREX through the internal circulation opening gets lower as the boiler load gets lower.However, the fraction of the internal circulation rate gets higher as the boiler load gets higher, which indicates that the internal circulation is of more significance in the low load condition rather than that in the high load condition.The reason of higher fraction of internal circulation is discussed and is speculated to be the bed height change in the furnace.
