REGIONAL VARIABILITY OF GROUND-MOTION OF Ms6.0-7.0 EARTHQUAKES BETWEEN THE NORTH-SOUTH SEISMIC ZONE IN CHINA AND CALIFORNIA REGION

A large number of strong-motion recordings collected by the National Strong-Motion Observation Networks System during the Ms6.0-7.0 earthquake occurred in the North-South Seismic Zone.We selected the strong-motion recordings with Joyner-Boore distance less than 400 km, and the ground motion prediction equation developed by Booer et al.(2014) to investigate the region variability of ground motion between the NSSZ and California region. The residual analysis was done to exhibit the regional variability of ground motion between both regions. The resultant between-events residuals suggested that the source effect in NSSZ region was stronger than that in California region. The adjustment coefficients of anelastic attenuation in NSSZ were larger compared with that in BSSA14 model, indicated that the NSSZ exhibited slower anelastic attenuation.
