Experimental Study on the Effect of Hydrogen Embrittlement of Prestressed Tendons in Electrochemical Repair
Electrochemical repair technology is an important way to improve the durability of existing reinforced concrete structures, which can effectively remove harmful chlorine ions in concrete and prolong the service life of structures.A new electrochemical repair technology eliminated with the internal steel bar hydrogen embrittlement phenomenon is appeared in this paper to improve the durability of prestressed concrete structure.Hydrogen embrittlement of prestressed tendons is the main technical bottleneck of applying electrochemical repair technology into prestressed concrete structures. How to evaluate and control the hydrogen embrittlement of prestressed tendons is the key problem. In this paper, the tensile test with constant strain rate of prestressed tendons after electrochemical repair treatment is carried out, and the effect of electrochemical repair on the hydrogen embrittlement of prestressed tendons is analyzed through the fracture energy ratio and fracture morphology, and the relationship between the factors of current density, time of current, electrolyte solution and the hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity of prestressed tendons was studied. It can be shown that the hydrogen-induced plastic reduction of prestressing tendons is correlated with the current density, time of current, electrolyte and stress level during electrochemical repair treatment.
