Assess of the Amount of Cement Constituent Compounds by Using Chemical Compositions of Compounds
Cement is a complex of constituent compounds (Alite, Belite, Aluminate, Ferrite, etc.) produced during the heating and cooling process of limestone and clay. The hydration which generates strength of concrete is a chemical reaction of this compound and water. The amount of constituent compounds of cement are calculated by the Bogue equation conventionally and the equation is formulated under the assumption that the compounds consists solely of four major oxides like CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3.But according to the reference, chemical composition of compounds is not the same as Bogues assumption. For example, In the bogue equation, alite consists of CaO and SiO2, but reference review shows that alite also has Al2O3, and Fe2O3.Therefore, it is necessary to change the chemical composition for calculating the amounts of the compounds. For this purpose, we present 8 cases of the chemical composition of the compounds by reference review and formulate a general equation for calculating the amount of the compounds. The equation is then modified by the chemical composition of the compounds presented by references and its average value. In order to verify the accuracy of the modified equation, the amount of the compounds was calculated from the amount of oxides constituting the cement presented in the reference using the Bogue equation and the modified equation, and compared with the amount of the cement compounds obtained by the experiment in the reference. As a result of comparison, it is confirmed that the proposed calculation equation by using average chemical composition has high accuracy because the sum of the absolute error of the proposed calculation is lower than that of Bogue calculation.
