Shape and Size Effect on Compressive Strength of Ultra-high Performance Concrete
Compressive strength is a fundamental mechanical characteristic of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), which is influenced by the type of specimen with different shape and size.In this study, 12 groups of experimental programs were conducted to investigate the shape (cylinder and cube) and size effect on nominal compressive strength of UHPC, and to determine its converting factors.Test results show that the nominal compressive strength decrease as the specimen of length (diameter) increase.Size effect of cube is larger than that of cylinder ones.Size effect of UHPC is larger than that of conventional concrete.Taking Cu100 as reference, the comprehensive converting factors (size and shape) on nominal compressive strength of UHPC are obtained by the test and revised by collected data in literatures.
