Influence of different current pulses on coils of electromagnetic launcher
In this paper the performance of a three-section coil electromagnetic launcher is investigated.Electromagnetic field simulation analysis of electromagnetic launching coils is carried out by using Ansys.The simulation results includes the magnetic flux density distribution, current distribution and electromagnetic force distribution.Also the results have been shown the heat generation power and the overall heating capacity of coils under excitation of different current pulses.The finite element simulation of the electromagnetic field by Ansys summarizes the distribution of the current.The relation between current and the magnetic flux density was also examined.At the same time,the effect between current and electromagnetic force was examined.It was found that the larger current pulse is or the rapider rising rate current pulse has, the more significant skin effect is.In order to make the efficiency of the launching coil as large as possible, the generation of eddy currents should be reduced.With the half-width times of current pulse increasing, the electromagnetic force is more uniform.The trend of heat generation rate is close to the trend of current and although heat generation rate is high, the heat is not a lot.
