Research on the dynamic response of composite barrel in railgun shot tests

  The dynamic response of fiber reinforced railgun barrel in railgun shot tests has been simulated by a code introduced in this paper.This code is developed based on a load transfer coupled physics analysis.Electromagnetic and structure physics files are created independently and fully coupled in every time step for a coupled analysis.Dynamic distributions of magnetic field, eddy current and magnetic force in rails and composites in a railgun shot are simulated.A subsequent stress analysis at the same time point is conducted by mapping nodal results from electromagnetic analysis to structure analysis.Skin effect of pulse current is included in the computational model.Solving efficiency of this code is improved by adjusting the length of solving time for starting and acceleration of armature in railgun bore.Some results by this code show good agreement with experimental results in railgun shot tests.
