Exploratory research on a new type of two-barreled electromagnetic launcher
The development of electromagnetic railguns (EMRGs) has come to a point where increasing attention is being paid to multiple parallel launch technology because of the high volume of fire and high level of integration that comes together with it.Based on electromagnetic launch principles, two new electromagnetic launcher configurations are explored in this paper, namely, a common-rail two-barreled (CRTB) launcher and its improved version.Electromagnetic simulations are performed along with analysis of their characteristics and technical advantages.The strengthened magnetic field and improved system efficiency are examined and verified against a conventional simple launcher.The possibility of their future use is discussed primarily.All of this work has opened up a new path into the weaponization of EMRG technology.
