Research on the surface damage detection for rails with fourier transform profilometry
The electromagnetic railgun is a kind of new concept weapon with many advantages.During the process of railgun launching, due to the high electrical current densities, large electromagnetic loads, and high sliding velocities, a series of damage phenomena, i.e.gouging, edge erosion, deposition, etc.,will be appear on the rails. Those phenomena not only shorten the rails lifetime but also affect the interior ballistic performance. Therefore, to understand the effect of these different forms of the rail degradation, it is necessary for detecting the rails surface.A new three-dimensional surface profile measuring technology based on Fourier transform profilometry is proposed to apply to complex inbore environment.Verification experiment shows that this surface profile measuring technology is feasible, but still needs improvement.
