Characteristics of fragmentation under compound charge detonation loading

  Fragmentation of cylindrical shell with compound charge has been studied.Fragmentation processhas been simulated by smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH).Characteristics of fragmentation such as initial velocity, fragment kinetic energy, fragment mass distribution, pressure on the shell are obtained.One set of simulation experiments with different ideal and non-ideal explosive contents show that combination with less ideal explosive has the chance to produce higher fragments velocity,this can be established within a certain range of contents.In some compound structures, the homogeneity of fragmentation can be improved comparing to a single ideal charge structure.Another set of simulation experiments with different position of ideal and non-ideal explosive but the same contents show that the fixed proportion of ideal and non-ideal explosive (1∶1) could produce 10.64% difference in fragments maximum velocity.
