Silver acetylide-silver nitrate as a novel class of light-sensitive explosive
To investigate the feasibility of light-initiated explosive, silver acetylide-silver nitrate(SASN), applied as an effective simulation of a cold X-ray blow-off event, experiments on the detonation property of SASN ignited by a light flash are carried out.The background of SASN and its safety performance are present in the paper.Based on the analysis of light-initiated mechanisms of SASN, a large area of SASN sprayed layer is succeeded in being ignited by a light flash with high voltages.Thereafter, experiments on the detonation characteristics of SASN sprayed layer initiated by light are performed. The results indicate that, SASN is a relatively safe agent of light-sensitive explosive with a relatively low detonation velocity of sprayed layer, which is capable providing low impulsive loads. The experimental results have confirmed that the impulse of explosion from SASN is almost linear to the areal density of sprayed layer under the conditions of low-level density.
