Characterization of the HMX based explosives containing different binders
Binders with and without energy were mixed with HMX, respectively. The scanning electron microscope was employed to observe the surface of the explosives, the field emission scanning electron microscope was used to analyze the constitution of the surface, and FTIR were applied to determine the group alteration after coating. The thermal properties of explosives were also determined and compared with pure HMX by microcalometry method for the first time. The results show that the nitrogen content increasing when energetic binder exists because of the azido-group.The phase transition of HMX(after coating by binders) from the β to δ form are observed from the heat flow curves. It also can be further proved by the very different kinetic parameters after coating process.
