Numerical simulation of RDX based aluminized explosive in air blast

  In order to investigate the influence on character of aluminized explosive energy-releasing in air blast test from aluminum powder content, the RDX-based aluminized explosive is researched,finite element code LS-DYNA is applied to simulating the air blast test of 4 formulas explosive with difference aluminum powder contents.The results shows that: overpressure values of explosive air blast by numerical simulation and theory calculation are differ no more than 3KPa, the numerical simulation method is able to simulate overpressure distribution of air blast accurately;adding aluminum powder to single-base explosive can improve overpressure value of shock wave;the overpressure value reaches maximum with 20% aluminum powder content.The research results and numerical simulation method provides reference to formula design of aluminized explosive.
