Investigation of multi-hit ballistic resistance of the ceramic-textile armour
Armour ceramics (in many publications named, also as the special ceramics) is one of the most commonly and successfully used material both in body armours as well as in vehicle armours.In the armour system it appears usually in the form of cuboidal ceramic tiles with square or hexagonal front surface.The paper describes multi-hit ballistic tests (performed according to STANAG 4569/AEP-55 Volume 1) of the armour variant with square ceramic tiles with dimensions 50x50 mm.The method of joining tiles with textile layers is presented, which is supposed to limit the mutual separation of ceramic fragments formed by the tile cracks.The possibility of providing protection by a single ceramic tile in the case of a double hit was examined.
