Experimental and numerical investigation on the deflection characteristics of warhead penetrating the non-uniform target structure

  Anti-ship missile has become a primary threat for warship nowadays, the warship designers all around the world are dedicating themselves for establishing certain relative defending structures.In this paper, a kind of non-uniform metal defending structure is proposed which can mainly make warhead deflect.Experiments including sharp nosed warhead and blunt nosed warhead impacting targets were carried out with 92mm slide gun, high-speed video was applied to measure the movement trace of warhead before and after impacting, and important parameters such as deflection angle, angular velocity were obtained.Then, for the number limitation of experimental cases,numerical simulation method was employed to comprehensively analyze the defending effect of the non-uniform target structures, the JC (Johnson-Cook) strength model and JC failure model material constants are acquired based on the material mechanical properties experiments, good agreement between experimental data and simulation results were obtained.Finally, the map of defending effect for non-uniform metal targets was built from probability statistics view by calculating as more as different impacting positions.This paper could provide new protective design concept for naval ship defensing missile.
