Calculation and verification of the deflection effect in electromagnetic armor to armor piercing projectile
It is an innovative protection method of weapons and equipment to deflect the incoming projectile under the electromagnetic force on the projectile body between two polar plates.To explore the protective mechanism of electromagnetic armor to semi armor piercing projectile, the circuit principle of electromagnetic armor is analyzed by empirical formula and theoretical method.The load calculation method is formed for electromagnetic armor to defeat the semi armor piercing projectile.Based on the theory of rigid body dynamics, the deflection motion equation of projectile is established under the electromagnetic force.And the validity of the equation is verified by the finite element simulation.Finally, the mechanism experiment of the electromagnetic armor is carried out.The resistance increase phenomenon is obtained during the discharge period.The experimental electromagnetic force is calculated and compared with the theory.This paper provides a technical foundation for the design and evaluation of electromagnetic armor.
