Experimental investigation on projectiles high-speed water entry
Water-entry experiments of projectiles with different nose shapes were conducted at about 785 m/s.The experimental images including the cavity shapes and the ballistics trajectory were obtained by a high-speed camera. And the effect of nose shape and initial velocity on the projectile velocity attenuation law were analyzed. In addition, the effect of the nose shape on the trajectory stability of water entry was analyzed. The results show that the type-A projectile velocity decreases faster than projectile B.The type-B projectile has a better drag reduction effect and trajectory stability than the type-A projectile at 785m/s.
