Nonlinear dynamics and bifurcation control of underwater supercavitating vehicles

  Numerical investigations and analytical into the dynamics and control of supercavitating vehicles are presented.A four-dimensional dynamic model for supercavitating vehicles is studied.Dominant nonlinearities of this system is due to the planing force acting on the vehicle.The ranges of control law and cavitation number for the stable motion are determined by distribution diagram of stable equilibrium points.The bifurcation analysis with variable control laws is conducted.Which indicates that the motion of supercavitating vehicles is found to have complex nonlinear physical phenomena,such as Hopf bifurcation, periodic window and chaos.And the use of bifurcation control to suppress or delay the onsets of Hopf bifurcation is presented.The robustness and stability of underwater supercavitating vehicles can be improved by adjusting the control law reasonably.
