Supersonic rocket detection experiment-comparison of the data from active and passive radar systems
The radar detection of supersonic solid fuel rocket propelled projectiles is the subject of this paper. The topic is very interesting because the object is not typically large in size (a rocket is usually a few meters in length and its diameter under 30cm) Rockets are objects which have low Radar Cross-Section (RCS) and move with supersonic velocity. The motion parameters, including the high rate of acceleration, causes the object to migrate very quickly in range and Doppler cells on the Crossambiguity function in the case of the passive radar.
