Study on energy conversion characterization of low energy exploding foil initiator system
In order to meet the low energy and miniaturization requirements of the exploding foil initiator system, theoretical calculations and experimental measurement methods were used to study the energy loss of the system at various stages. This process also illustrates the energy conversion characterization method. The results show that the system has a large energy loss in phase transition, electromagnetic and thermal radiation of the bridge foil, but the kinetic energy of the flyer calculated from the Photonic Doppler Velocimetry measurement speed is only 4% of the energy stored in the capacitor. It can be seen that the following work can increase the kinetic energy of the flyer through system optimization, thereby improving the energy efficiency of the system and enabling the exploding foil initiator to achieve the goal of low energy.
