Integrated logistics systems (ILS)-yielding the benefit while managing risks and black swan-a case study

This paper proposes a practical approach to identify benefits yielded from an integrated logistics system (ILS), and a case study to Military ILS.The test for realizing benefits is successfully managing project risks in terms of time, financials and scope. This approach can help logisticians, project managers, and subject matter experts to counter against perceived black swans or negative elements which diminish the strategic value and future organizational projects. The ILS is a strategic approach that measures and manages supply chain processes and is expected to yield enterprise benefits. While ILS expects benefits or positive outcomes, there are issues both foreseeable and unforeseeable that result in dis-benefits.In this paper, unyielded benefits are lucidly illustrated in a case study relating to ILS of military logistics. We propose a method to analyze benefit and risk. The paper presents the dynamics of risks in the backdrop of project benefits and dis-benefits.Finally, we provide insights for benefit analysis in the contexts of Government/public institutions and large private organizations for future capability preparedness.
